Travel off the beaten track and see the most beautiful Cape in the world, appreciate the silence of the Fish River Canyon, walk amongst the world highest dunes in the world oldest desert and go on foot, jeep and boat on unforgettable safaris. Another highlight marks the end of this amazing journey, the thundering mist of the mighty Victoria Falls.

Itinerary

Day 1 Departure for Africa

Day 2 Arrive in Cape Town

After welcoming you at the airport do a sight seeing tour around the city and V&A Waterfront. Possibility to take a trip to Table Mountain (optional, weather dependant). After a colourful sun downer on Signal Hill enjoy a tasteful dinner. (A)

Day 3 Drive through the Namaqualand

Leaving Cape Town and head through the wild North Cape to Springbok. During spring time in August/September be amazed by the endless flower carpets of Namaqualand! Accommodation is in a beautiful guest house 4*. (B)

Day 4 Fish River Canyon

The second largest canyon in the world is one of the natural highlights of southern Africa. A easy hike takes you along the Canyon Ridge with the waters some 1500ft below. Accommodation is in the idyllically located Canyon Lodge/Canyon Village (B, D)

Day 5 Quiver Tree Forest & Lüderitz

Continue towards Keetmanshoop to Quiver Tree Forest, the place with the highest numbers of tree aloes. At nearby ‘Giants Playground’ we take an approx. 45 minute hike through the wonder-world of dolerite stone erosions. Afternoon drive to Lüderitz. Overnight stay in the Nest Hotel 4* right at the waters edge. (B, D)

Day 6 Ghost town Kolmaskop

After visiting the ghost town Kolmanskop continue driving to Helmeringhausen, through the wild horse region to Maltahöhe. Accommodation is in a simple hotel. (B, D)

Day 7 Namib-Naukluft National Park

Continue driving in the Namib-Naukluft National Park to the 1-2 hr long hike in the Naukluft Mountains. Kudu, Hartman mountain zebra, baboon and springbok can be found. This is followed by a drive through the Naukluft Mountains to the Lodge at the edge of the Namibian Desert. (B, D)

Day 8 The world highest dunes

Early morning drive into the sandy ocean of the Namib Desert. On a secret hike reach the salt pans of Sossusvlei and the Dead Vlei. Midday visit to the Sesriem Canyons. Opportunity in the afternoon for a 1 hr round trip by small aircraft over the dunes and the coast. (B, D)

Day 9 From the Namib Desert to the Atlantic Ocean at Swakopmund

Drive via Solitaire through the Gaub and Sesriem Canyons and over endless gravel plains to Swakopmund. Beside ostrich and springbok the well camouflaged desert chameleon can be seen. A short stop along the way at the Walvisbaai Laguna and the opportunity to see flamingos. Accommodation for the next 2 nights is in a comfortable guest house in Swakopmund. (B)

Day 10 Moonlandscape

After a short tour of the town, time is set aside for a trip to Welwitschia Plain in our tour bus. Discover incredible geological formations close to 1 billion years old and the world largest Welwitschia mirabilis as well as desert plants like the !Nara melon and aloe asperifolia. The rest of the day is free-time in Swakopmund. (B)

Day 11 Cape fur seals

Continue through the beautiful Ugab Valley, past the Brandberg, Namibia‘s highest mountain, towards Twyfelfontein. Along the way, visit the seal colony of the Cape Cross. (B, D)

Day 12 Harsh Damaraland

Visit the fascinating rock carvings of Twyfelfontein a UNESCO World Heritage Site.. Continue towards Etosha National Park. Visit the petrified forest along the way. Overnight accommodation in a lodge 3* very close to Etosha National Park. (B, D)

Day 13 Safari at Etosha National Park

Go on a day long game drive and watch the wildlife in Etosha National Park. All of the “Big 5”, apart from Buffalo, are to be seen here – lions, leopards, rhinos and elephants. Springbok and giraffes are prominent residents in the park. Accommodation in a first class lodge 4* at the eastern entrance to the park. (B, D)

Day 14 Towards the Angolan border

After Tsumeb, where we will visit the mining museum, we continue through Grootfontein towards Rundu at the entrance to the Caprivi Strip. On the way visit the Hoba meteorite – the world largest. Overnight stay in a beautiful lodge 3*directly on the River Kwando and opposite Angola. (B, D)

Day 15 Caprivi Strip

Drive through the Caprivi Strip on towards Kongola and the marvellously located Namushasha Lodge 3*. Here we will be able to enjoy the natural environment of the Caprivi for the next 2 days. Along the way, we will look at the interesting Popa Rapids and do a short walk..

Day 16 Safari by boat and on foot

Today we will take a boat trip on the Kwando River and an approx. 1.5 hr hike close to the lodge. Here, we can watch the wonderful bird-life of the river. (B, D)

Day 17 Border crossing into Botswana

Today it is not much further over the border to Botswana and the Chobe River. Accommodation is in Chobe Safari Lodge located at the border of the Chobe National Park. (B, D)

Day 18 Chobe National Park

An early morning safari in open vehicles is done in Chobe National Park. Elephant, lion, leopard, sable, puku, leechwe antelopes and many more roam the area. The afternoon boat safari on the Chobe River is an absolute highlight of the trip! (B, D)

Day 19 Victoria Falls

Early morning transfer to Zimbabwe to visit Victoria Falls. Go on a 1.5 hr walk along the Zambezi canyon and enjoy the enormous amounts of water tumbling into the gorge. This incredible journey full of highlights ends with a transfer Victoria Falls Airport. Return home with a flight to Johannesburg. (B)
