Day 1
We greet you at Dar-es-Salaam airport and drive together to the hotel. (B)

Day 2
We leave the capital and drive through landscapes of tropical forests to Selous National Park, where we will spend the next two nights at the Rufiji River Camp right on the river. In the afternoon we enjoy a safari in an open vehicle through the bushveld and acacia-covered savannah. (B, L, D)

Day 3
In the morning we go on another safari in an off-road vehicle. The afternoon is spent on a boat safari on the Rufiji River, an awesome experience! Amongst other things we could observe hippopotamus and elephant crossing the river. (B, L, D)

Day 4
We fl y from Selous National Park back to Dar es Salaam and then on to Arusha in the highlands of Kilimanjaro. A short transfer takes us to our beautiful lodge at the foot of Kilimanjaro with views over the volcanic cones of extinct Mount Meru. (B, L, D)

Day 5
After a good breakfast we drive further to the still very much unspoiled Tarangire National Park, where we enjoy Safaris in open Land rover. The park is well known for its herds of elephant and gigantic baobab trees. We spend the night in a lodge with a lovely pool in the middle of the national park. (B, L, D)

Day 6
From Tarangire National Park we travel today to the Lake Manyara National Park. Enormous herds of buffalo make this their home and come to drink at the lake. There is also a great possibility of coming across tree-lions in this park. We spend the night in the beautiful Lake Manyara Hotel. (B, L, D)

Day 7
After a morning safari in Lake Manyara National Park, we travel to the mountain forests of the Ngorongoro Crater with fantastic views over the crater floor. We pass the grave of the famous animal researcher Dr. Gcimek. We continue through the endless steppes of the Serengeti in search of migrating animal herds. We spend the night in an attractive lodge with a pool and views over the Serengeti. (B, L, D)

Day 8
In the morning we undertake more safaris in the Serengeti before reaching the interesting Olduvai Gorge, “the cradle of mankind“. There is an interesting museum containing the oldest excavated human remains. We visit a typical village of the local Massai tribe. Driving alongside the Ngorongoro Crater through magnificent forests, we reach our lodge, situated on the crater rim with fantastic views. (B, L, D)

Day 9
Today in the early morning we travel down to the crater floor. The lake in the middle of the crater and steep wall of cliffs which keep the animals in guarantees a diversity of species in such a small area found nowhere else in Africa. Flamingos also gather in their hundred at the crater lake. In the afternoon we depart the Ngorongoro Crater and arrive at a magnificent lodge beneath the backdrop of Mount Meru. (B, L, D)

Day 10
After breakfast we fl y from Kilimanjaro airport to the famous Spice Islands of Zanzibar, where we are accommodated in a hotel directly on the beach in the historic old town of Stone Town. Stone Town is a unique mix of African markets and Arabian fl air. We do a walking discovery tour in the narrow streets with beautiful Arabian doors. (B)

Day 11
Today we have the entire day to stroll through fascinating Stone Town or go on a spice tour and excursion to the slave caves. (B)

Day 12
Today we travel across the island to the east coast where we find the best beaches in Africa! Crystal blue water and corral reefs beckon snorkelers and divers. Or simply relax on the beach at our gorgeous lodge, where we will stay for the next three nights. (B, D)

Day 13
An excursion through beautiful African villages and the interior of the Spice Islands brings us to the sacred Jozani Forest. This is the only place in the world that one can find the rare Red Colobus Monkey. We also visit mangrove swamps in the vicinity. In the afternoon we are back at the lodge. (B, D)

Day 14
Our last day is completely devoted to beach life! (B, D)

Day 15
Today we say goodbye to Zanzibar. We drive back to Stone Town, from where a short flight takes us to Dares Salaam. This is the departure point for the individual return flights. (B)

Should you have extra time, after the end of this trip we can organise a 4-5 day hike up Kilimanjaro for you. Also recommended is an individualised extension in Uganda and Rwanda for gorilla trekking. Simply ask us for a quotation!

Travel Information:
Tanzania lies just below the equator, therefore the climate on the coast is very humid. In the highlands of Arusha and in the national parks it is very hot during the day but not as humid. At night it can actually get quite cool. In the months from November-January and March-May are the rainy seasons, however April and May are the best months in which to experience the animal migrations. Vaccinations against yellow fever and hepatitis as well as malaria prophylactics are recommended.
