    Group Size: 8-11 participants

    Day 1              Arrival in Namibia

    Your tour guide welcomes you at Windhoek airport. Afterwards you drive South to Heroe`s Acre. Through the Khomas Highland you continue to your beautifully located lodge 3* on the Oanob Lake.

    Lake Oanob Resort 3*

    Distance by bus 140 km, duration 2 h

    Day 2              Bike tour to the Quiver Tree Forest and Giants Playground

    Transfer to Keetmanshoop. After lunch, you cycle on gravel road to the Quiver Tree Forest and Giants Playground. Quiver trees are a species of Aloe and flower in June and July. You overnight in a lodge close in Keetmanshoop. (B,L)

    Maritz Country Lodge 3*

    Distance by bike 39 km, 220 am, tar/gravel road

    Distance by bus 440 km, duration 5.5 h

    Day 3              Bike tour to the second biggest canyon in the world

    Transfer to Holoog. From there you cycle in the Gondwana Canyon Park. Along the way you might see mountain zebra, ostrich, oryx antelope and springbok. You stay for two nights in a lodge close to the Fish River Canyon. During the afternoon you cycle from your lodge to the edge of the canyon. The view down into the second largest canyon is breathtaking. (B,L)

    Distance by bus 80 km, duration 1 h

    Day 4              Bike tour between the million years old rocks

    You cycle through the fascinating desert landscapes down into the Fish River Canyon and pass indigenous Gneiss, basalt and quartz rock formations. Relax your muscles in the hot springs of the Ai-Ais. You are back at your lodge in the late afternoon. (B,L)

    Canyon Lodge 3*

    Distance by bike 60 km, 400 am, gravel road

    Distance by bus 80 km, duration 1.5 h

    Day 5              Bike Tour through the land of the Nama people

    Visit the mission village of Bethanien. Along the Swartrand Mountains you then cycle to Helmeringhausen. Here you can experience the atmosphere of the African Wild West. Stay at a simple Hotel. (B,L,D)

    Distance by bus 220 km, duration 3 h

    Day 6              Bike tour along the Great Escarpment

    Transfer to Zarishoogte Pass, the beginning of the oldest desert in the world, the Namib Desert. You pass farms with ostrich and Karakul sheep before reaching your lodge 3*. The afternoon is perfect for relaxing by the pool or taking a walk around the farm. (B,L)

    Day 7              Bike tour in the oldest desert in the world

    Your bike tour leads you in the Namib Naukluft Park to the red dunes of Sossusvlei, where there is an unique display of colours in the morning sun. You hike through the fascinating desert and explore the Sesriem Canyon. You drive to Solitaire, where you stay for 2 nights in a nearby lodge. (B,L)

    Day 8              Bike tour through the rocky Naukluft Mountains

    Bike tour through the impressive Buellsport Gorge with 500 to 700 m high walls. You can spend the afternoon relaxing by the pool. During sunset you take a walk to weaver bird nests and enjoy a Sundowner drink. (B,L)

    Solitaire Desert Farm 3*

    Distance by bike 60 km, 180 am, gravel road

    Day 9              Bike tour the moon landscape and large Welwitschia

    The day starts with a transfer to Walvis Bay. You stop by the lagoon and look for larger and lesser Flamingos as well as Pelicans. Have lunch there.In the Namib Naukluft Park you see living stones (Lithops), the moon landscape and the largest Welwitschia Mirabilis plant yet discovered. In Swakopmund you get an impression of many buildings from the former German colonial time. Stay two nights in a hotel 3*. (B,L)

    Today is at leisure and your guide can give tips and hints for activities. (B,L)

    Day 11             Bike tour to ‘Spitzkoppe’

    After a transfer towards Usakos, you cycle to the famous peak of the Spitzkoppe, the landmark of Namibia, in the otherwise flat plains. You also visit some ancient rock paintings. A short transfer takes us to the mining town of Uis, where you spend the night in chalets of a simple lodge 2*. (B,L)

    Distance by bus 200 km, duration 3 h

    Day 12             Bike tour through the Damaraland

    Reaching the Damaraland, you cycle along the imposing Brandberg Mountain. Next to the road, Herero women offer handmade articles and semi-precious stones. With luck, you see the rare desert elephant while cycling. Transfer to your next accommodation where you stay in thatched chalets of a lodge for two nights. (B,L,D)

    Twyfelfontein Lodge 3*

    Distance by bus 200 km, duration 3 h

    Day 13             Bike tour between Granite Rocks

    In the morning, you explore the popular rock engravings of Twyfelfontein. They recently gained UNESCO World Heritage Status. You visit the Dancing Kudu route and also the Lion Tail route. Afterwards you ride to the organ pipes and burnt mountain. In the afternoon you can relax by the pool or head out on foot or by bike on the lodge property. You might spot some springbok and ostrich.     Distance by bus 30 km, duration 0.5 h

    Day 14             Bike tour between table mountains to the unique Vingerklip column

    Transfer to the Petrified Forest. Undertake a bike excursion through a Mopane forest, passing the many table-like mountains en route to the 22 m high freestanding stack, the Vingerklip column, which is regarded as a famous natural monument. Stay at a lodge close by. (B,L,D)

    Distance by bus 100 km, duration 2 h

    Day 15             Safari in the Etosha National Park

    After a transfer you arrive in the Etosha National Park. Except for the buffalo, you can view the ‘Big 5’: elephant, lion, leopard and rhino. In addition, you can have a look at cheetah, jackal, giraffe and large herds of common zebra and springbok. You spend two nights in beautiful chalets of a lodge 3* overlooking the bush. (B)

    Etosha Safari Lodge 3*

    Distance by bus 190 km, duration 2.5 h

    Day 16             More game viewing in the Etosha National Park

    You spend half the day on safari in an open game vehicle. A highlight is certainly a short walk into the pan itself. The afternoon is at your own leisure. If requested, you can go on another game drive in the late afternoon. (B)

    Day 17             Back to Windhoek

    After breakfast, you leave for Windhoek. During a break you visit the handcraft market in Okahandja. In Windhoek you stay at a guest house 2-3* in walking distance to the city centre. (B)

    Day 18             Windhoek city tour and return journey

    You have the possibility to take a tour of the city, if your flight time allows it. Your cycling holiday ends with your transfer to Windhoek Airport. (B)

  • Travel Hints

    All bike trails are over graveled tracks. Although the trails are generally good to cycle and carefully selected, depending on the weather they can also be uneven. You are, however, flexible due to the constant, close accompaniment of our vehicle. A reasonable amount of fitness is enough to be able to cycle the trails. During the given dates it is the dry season in Namibia. During the day, the temperature is a comfortable 28 °C, at night in the desert it can drop into the thirties.
