Day 1 Arrival in Namibia
Upon your arrival at the Hosea Kutako International Airport in Windhoek, you are met by your tour guide. Transfer through the Khomas Highlands to the beautiful located Lake Oanob Resort 3*.

Day 2 Bike tour to the Quiver Tree Forest and Giants Playground
Transfer to Keetmanshoop. After your lunch, you cycle on gravel road to the Quiver Tree Forest and Giants Playground. Quiver trees are a species of Aloe and flower in June and July. You overnight in a lodge close in Keetmanshoop. (B,L)

Day 3 Bike tour to the second biggest canyon in the world
Transfer to Holoog. From there you cycle in the Gondwana Canyon Park. Along the way you might see mountain zebra, ostrich, oryx antelope and springbok. You stay for two nights in a lodge close to the Fish River Canyon. During the afternoon you cycle from our lodge to the edge of the canyon. The view down into the second largest canyon is breathtaking. (B,L)

Day 4 Bike tour between 1 billion years old rocks
You cycle through the fascinating desert landscapes down into the Fish River Canyon and pass indigenous Gneiss, basalt and quartz rock formations. Relax your muscles in the hot springs of the Ai-Ais. If you like you can go for a walk on the Canyon floor and see baboon or rock hyrax. (B,L)

Day 5 Bike ride in the Ai Ais-Richtersveld Transfrontier Park
In a wide dry valley, the slope descends gently into the Gariep / Orange River valley. The last gnarled camel thorn acacias disappear and give way to camphor bushes. The contrast at the border river to South Africa is startling. In the reed belt along the river live many weaver birds and directly behind it, with the help of artificial irrigation, fruit and table grapes are cultivated. After a picnic by the river, the vehicle travels on a lonely road through the mining village of Rosh Pinah alongside the Sperrgebiet to Aus, where you stay for two nights in a charming lodge. (B,L)

Day 6 Excursion to Lüderitz. Bicycle ride on ancient rocks close to the Atlantic Ocean
After breakfast transfer to Lüderitz, the first settlement founded by Germans in Namibia. Many well-preserved buildings bear witness to the colonial time 130 years ago. After a tour of town, travel to neighboring Diaz Point. Here stands a replica of a stone cross that Bartholomew Diaz set up on his reconnaissance trip around the Cape of Good Hope. Start the bicycle tour over ancient granite rocks, where in between interesting desert plants live. Shortly before you reach the old diamond village of Kolmanskop you cross a sand dune belt. After a tour around the village return to Aus. On the way back in Garub, you might see some of the desert horses. (B,L)

Day 7 Hike and overnight in the Namib Desert
In the morning you spend an hour on the lodge grounds. Then transfer to Duwisib Castle. In the middle of nowhere, a German baron built a pleasure palace here at the end of the 19th century. In addition to the museum, part of the rooms can also be rented today. Continue to the edge of the Namib Desert, the second largest protected area in Africa. You leave the vehicle and bikes behind, and only with a daypack, you head for our first overnight camp in the Namib Desert. The main luggage is transported. You sleep comfortably on camping beds with proper down bedding under the open sky with only the stars above you. Thousands of stars can be seen here in one of the darkest places on the African continent. In the evening, after a warm shower and good food you sit comfortably together with a cold beer or a glass of wine. (B,D)

Day 8 Hike through the Namib Desert
In the loneliness of the desert, there is always something new to discover, whether useful plants or the wildlife such as mountain zebra, oryx, ostriches, beetles and other insects. Another night under the stars of Namibia is spend in nature in another camp. (B,L,D)

Day 9 Hike on the edge of the Namib Desert
After another three-hour hike you again reach the farmhouse. The hosts present their environmental projects. Continue the journey along the Naukluft Mountains to the only fossilized dunes. In the unique Dune Star Camp with fantastic views over the transition region between sandy desert and mountains you spend the night. The 8 rooms of the camp guarantee exclusivity. (B)

Day 10 Bike Tour through the Oldest Desert in the World
Today´s cycle tour takes you to one of the natural wonders of Namibia, the red dunes of Sossusvlei in the Namib Naukluft National Park, where there is an unique display of colors in the morning sun. Undertake an interesting desert hike and visit the Sesriem Canyon. Thereafter transfer to Solitaire. Accommodation is at the Solitaire Lodge 3*. (B,L)

Day 11 Bike ride on the great escarpment
Short transfer onto the Remhoogte Pass. The hilly road takes you past many farms. Due to the higher rainfall there are more grass and deciduous trees. You aim for Namibgrens farm. The owner has built fantastic houses into the granite landscape, which fit perfectly into nature. Again, it is worthwhile to spend two nights. (B,L)

Day 12 Excursions on the farm
Whether on foot or by mountain bike, there is a large network of trails to get a better understanding of the surroundings. In addition, a trip by bike or vehicle to the nearby lookout point of the Spreetshoogte Passes is made, from where you have a very impressive view over the Namib Desert. (B,L)

Day 13 Drive to Windhoek and sightseeing
After breakfast you drive through the Hardap region back to Windhoek, where you arrive at lunchtime. On an informative sightseeing tour, you visit the Christuskirche and the Alte Feste. Then time at leisure. If you like, you can take part in a township visit in nearby Katutura. In the evening, a table is booked at the N.I.C.E restaurant. At the “Namibia Institute for Culinary Education” upcoming Namibian chefs can show what they have learned. Accommodation is in a quiet guest house near the city. (B)

Travel Hints
All bike trails are on selected gravel tracks, which are generally in a good condition. Depending on the weather conditions, the tracks could become uneven, but African Bikers can remain flexible due to the constant and close vehicle back-up. A reasonable state of fitness is required to be able to cycle along these trails. It is the dry season in Namibia during the periods stated above. The day temperatures can vary between 27 °C to 35 °C and at night the temperature can drop to around -1 °C to 10 °C in the desert.
