Day 1 Arrival in Cape Town
After landing you are welcomed by your driver/tour guide. Transfer on the N1 through Paarl, Worcester and Robertson to Montagu. Stay for 3 nights in the beautiful Montagu Country Hotel 4*. Check in and room allocation will take place. If you feel like it and time permits, head out into Breede valley for a first short ride.

Day 2 Cycle Ashton – Bonnievale
After breakfast cycle through Kogmanskloof to Ashton. Cycle further on a hilly road past many farms to Drew. Alongside the Breede River cycle via Bonnievale, which is known for its cheese production, to Weltevrede Winefarm where for a Wine Tasting. After a rest return cycle back to Montagu. (F)

Day 3 Cycle Montagu to Rooihoogte Pass return
Cycle past fertile fruit and wine farms into the Klein Karoo Savannah. The vegetation is a mix of indigenous shrub and succulent plants, well adapted to the dry and hot climate. Carry on to the 1240 m high Rooihoogte Pass offering magnificent views towards the Langeberge Mountain range. Turn around and ride the same way back to Montagu. (B)

Day 4 Cycle Barrydale – Tradouw Gorge – Buffeljagsrivier
After breakfast cycle along the Langeberg Mountains past fruit and wine farms onto the 750 m high Op-de-Tradouw Pass. Continue towards Barrydale. Cycle through the beautiful Tradouw Gorge with its variety of endemic protea and erica type plants to the mission village of Suurbraak. Continue past lush pastureland to Buffeljagsrivier. Transfer by bus to Gordon´s Bay a charming sea side resort at the Atlantic Ocean. Stay for the night in the comfortable rooms of the beautiful Manor on the Bay Guest House 4* opposite the beach. There are many restaurants within walking distance. (B)

Day 5 Cycle along the Atlantic Ocean
Cycle along the Kogelberg Mountains to Rooi Els and Betty´s Bay. Sometimes whales and seals are seen, and one can admire the whole length of the Cape Peninsula some 40 km across the False Bay. Visit an African Penguin breeding colony. Carry on from Betty´s Bay to Kleinmond lagoon. After a break turn around and ride back to Gordon´s Bay. Transfer to Cape Town. Stay for two nights in the charming Bantry Bay All Suites Hotel 4*, only 100 m away from the Atlantic Ocean. We suggest an evening meal in the Africa Café. They serve tasty specialties from different African countries. (B)

Day 6 Cycle the Cape of Good Hope
After breakfast transfer to Simon’s Town. Bike tour along the eastern side of the Peninsula to Simonstown where we have possible sightings of baboons along the way to the Cape of Good Hope. You might see ostrich, mountain zebra, eland and bontebok. Continue through Scarborough and Kommetjie to Noordhoek. This is where Chapman’s Peak Drive begins, which is truly the most spectacular coastal road in the country. Continue over Hout Bay to Camps Bay. (B)

Guests who travel on the tour 09.03.-15.03.2021 will be able to ride the Cape Town Cycle Tour on this day. An entry fee is applicable. We do the registration for you. The above described program will not be possible on the day of the Cape Town Cycle Tour.
Day 7 Table Mountain and return journey
After breakfast, and depending on the weather, you can travel by cable car onto 1087 m high Table Mountain (not included) with fantastic views across the city and mountain peaks some 150 km away. Following this, do a tour of town on foot and visit the Waterfront. After a last shopping trip, and depending on your departure time, transfer to Cape Town Airport and return flight. (B)

Travel Hints
Montagu is situated some 200 km away from Cape Town in the countryside. Surrounded by steep mountains made of sandstone – the Langeberg – valley floors are covered with fruit and wine orchards. The village has aprox. 3000 inhabitants and due to its proximity to Cape Town is quite popular among Capetonians. Besides road biking, mountain biking, hiking, good dining, wine tasting, canoe paddling and visiting the local hot springs are popular.
The climate is warm to hot. The chance of rain is close to zero. It is summertime in South Africa. Mornings are general cool and pleasant. Between 11.00 and 16.00 it is hot. During the afternoon, the south easterly wind picks up on speed and cools things down a bit while humidity is low. The daily temperature varies between 25 and 35 °C, at night around 20 °C. Sunrise is around 06.00 and sunset around 20.00.
